The McKinney ISD board of trustees met Tuesday night for its regularly scheduled meeting.

1. Discussion items focus on the future


Discussion items included the board's community interaction report, which included the senior tour of Malvern Elementary School and the superintendents academy in San Antonio and the joint meeting with the McKinney City Council held last month.

Other items included the Lamar University Visioning Conference report, which board member Curtis Rippee said reminded him that teachers at McKinney ISD are preparing students for jobs that do not yet exist, adding that the district must continue working to push the boundaries of current technology and instructional styles.

2. Construction costs included in consent agenda


The board approved the consent agenda, which included the review of construction cost estimates for several possible renovation projects including Lawson Early Childhood School’s kitchen addition, Eddins Elementary School’s AC unit replacement and interior update, Walker Elementary School’s AC unit replacement and interior update as well as football turf installation at McKinney Boyd High School. The board did not vote to conduct these improvements.
