The three McKinney business and community development entities are now co-located within the District 121 Class A office building at 7300 SH 121 near Craig Ranch. The aligned relocation came after talks of a potential increase in collaborative efforts by having the three organizations in the same space, said Lisa Hermes said, chamber of commerce President and CEO .
“We're wanting to create more of a collaborative unity ... in the way that we do business. We'd love to have kind of a one-stop shop for business in McKinney,” said Luke Gajary, marketing and social media manager for the McKinney Economic Development Corp.
While the CDC and EDC shared an office space at their previous location, the Valliance Bank building at 5900 S. Lake Forest Drive, the chamber of commerce officed out of the First United Bank building at 1700 N. Redbud Blvd., Ste. 180. The organizations aimed to use the relocation as a chance to be at the center of business growth in the McKinney area.
“The Craig Ranch area is our corporate center, so it makes a lot of sense for us to be located in a corporate center,” Hermes said.
The organizations all serve existing businesses throughout McKinney and businesses looking to open or relocate to the city, and the new office space allows for an expanded effort for immediate and effective collaboration, Hermes said. The offices also have shared meeting spaces and amenities for the three organizations to use individually or collaboratively as well as room for growth, Gajary said.
“It's really about leveraging resources so that what you have can go further, and I think we've seen over and over again that when all of the various entities work together, we can cover a lot more ground,” said Cindy Schneible, president of the MCDC.
The organizations plan to host a grand opening celebration for the space in early 2023.
