Attend a Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony

Residents can attend the town of Flower Mound’s 30th annual Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony Dec. 7. The theme of the event will be “Twelve Days of Christmas.” The parade will feature lighted floats down Spinks Road to Gerault Park. A tree-lighting ceremony will take place at Gerault Park along with choir performances, photo opportunities with Santa, activities for kids and more. Food trucks and local vendors will be present at the event as well. 6-9 p.m. Free. Go on a holiday stroll

The city of Lewisville will host its Old Town Holiday Stroll Dec. 7 with a day full of activities for the whole family. The day will start out with a pancake breakfast with Santa hosted by the Lewisville Rotary Club, and it will end with a screening of "The Grinch." Other festivities at the event include a Winter Carnival, story time with Mrs. Claus, an elf scavenger hunt, a tree-lighting ceremony and hayrides through Old Town. 8 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Free. Participate in a holiday lighting contest

The city of Highland Village will host its annual Parade of Lights Holiday Lighting Contest for residents Dec. 11. To participate, a resident must fill out an online entry form on the city’s website by Dec. 6. Participants are encouraged to decorate their homes to compete in five different categories: Spirit of the Holidays Award, Most Creative Display, Best Theme, Most Outstanding Lights and Best Decorated Street. A panel of impartial judges will examine each contestant’s house. The winners will be announced Dec. 13. Prizes will be awarded in each category. 6-9 p.m. Free. Wine down with the Grinch

Highland Village will host a new event Dec. 13 featuring live music, alcoholic beverages, refreshments and a special guest appearance from the Grinch. Tickets must be purchased online by Dec. 6. Refreshments and one drink are included in the cost of the ticket. A cash bar will be available. The event is for adults ages 21 and up. 6-8 p.m. $10 (residents), $12.50 (nonresidents). Enjoy Christmas at the Ranch

Residents can come enjoy the city of Highland Village’s annual Christmas at the Ranch Dec. 14. The event will consist of activities for the whole family, including performances by Christmas carolers, a visit to Santa’s workshop, an ice skating rink, a large snow hill, a visit from Santa and his reindeer, and more. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Free. Eat breakfast with Santa

Parents and families are invited to join Santa for a pancake breakfast at the Community Activity Center Dec. 14. Attendees will get to participate in making crafts to take home and writing a wish list to read to Santa. People of all ages are welcome to attend the event. Decorate a gingerbread house

Residents are invited to the Flower Mound Community Activity Center to decorate gingerbread houses Dec. 14. Attendees will be provided with a pre-built house and all decorations needed. Attend a Christmas dinner for seniors

The city of Highland Village will host a Christmas dinner for seniors at The Robert & Lee DuVall Center Dec. 19. The dinner is free, but attendees must sign up to attend at least two days in advance. Take a trip to an 1870s Christmas

Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area will host a tour Dec. 21 of the historic Minor-Porter Log Cabin to show visitors how Christmas was celebrated in the 1870s. Visitors will get to make a corn husk doll, an ornament and a hand-dipped candle. Attendees will also get to enjoy carols, hot cider by the campfire and more. Watch a community theater show

Greater Lewisville Community Theatre will host performances of "Glorious! The True Story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the Worst Singer in the World" Dec. 20-22. The show is a comedy about an enthusiastic soprano singer in 1940’s New York who was known for having less-than-perfect pitch.
