The winter storm hitting North Texas has caused a number of city and town facility closures, delayed services and roadway concerns across Keller, Roanoke, Fort Worth, Trophy Club and Westlake. Here are the latest updates from each city.

Keller

Keller's most recent update at 4:30 a.m. Feb. 4 said that westbound FM 1709 is temporarily closed at the railroad tracks while Union Pacific works on an emergency repair.

The Keller Police Department found that North Tarrant Parkway is extremely slick and vehicles are having issues traveling up the hill on Elaine Street near Bear Creek Park, according to a city of Keller email update just before 5 p.m. Feb. 3.


Keller’s Public Works Department has continued plowing roadways and spreading a sand-salt mix on bridges, hills, curves and intersections to help drivers, according to a Feb. 3 press release from the city.

“Every turn is a drift; every stop is a slide; and every start is a spin-out,” Keller Public Works Director Alonzo Liñán shared with the city on its morning update call.

Multiple bridges and overpasses in Keller are slick from the frozen rain, and the Bear Creek Park low-water crossing has been closed, according to the release.

The Keller Police Department is monitoring an ice-laden utility line that stretches across Hwy. 377 between Ridge Point Parkway and Marshall Ridge “that may eventually sag low enough to be a traffic concern,” the release states. AT&T was sending out a technician to check the utility line.


Ottinger Road between Manor Way and Gailee Drive is also closed due to a hanging utility line, according to the city's Feb. 3 email.

The city asks those who encounter fallen trees, traffic signage blocking roadways or a neighborhood water main break to report them to the public works department as soon as possible by calling 817-743-4200.

The morning of Feb. 3, less than 100 homes were without power in Keller, the city wrote in a release. However, the city's latest email update reports that there aren't any reported outages anymore. To report outages to Oncor, click here. To report outages to Tri-County, click here.

Keller Town Hall, The Keller Pointe, the Keller Public Library, the Keller Senior Activities Center and the Regional Animal Adoption Center remain closed Feb. 4, according to the city.


Community Waste Disposal has canceled all residential and commercial services for the week. Normal collection will resume on Feb. 7.

Roanoke

According to the most recent Facebook post from the city of Roanoke, all city offices remain closed Feb. 4.

With the temperatures below freezing, the city asks residents to watch for ice on bridges, overpasses and streets.


The city is also asking residents to stay home and off the roads if possible, the post states. However, for those who have to travel, the city suggests leaving with extra time to spare, sharing travel plans with friends and family, having a full gas tank and having a winter emergency kit stocked with water, snacks, blankets, warm clothes, jumper cables, a flashlight and first-aid kit.

For updates, the city asks residents tune into its social media platforms, such as its Facebook page, and the city’s website.

Fort Worth

For closures, the central cashier on the lower level of Fort Worth City Hall is closed Feb. 3 and 4, according to the update. All Fort Worth Public Library locations are closed Feb. 3 and 4 as well.

Building permit inspections will not be done Feb. 3 or 4, and all inspections scheduled for those days will be rescheduled to Feb. 7, the update states. However, for emergency inspections related to reconnecting utilities, call 817-392-2222.

The city’s development services are closed for in-person customer service Feb. 3 and 4, but services are available online by clicking here, or click here to set up a phone appointment.

The A.D. Marshall Public Safety and Courts building in downtown Fort Worth is open for walk-in services, but the service location at Golden Triangle Library is closed Feb. 3 and 4, according to the update.

All in-person court dockets for Feb. 3 are being canceled and rescheduled, and virtual dockets and hearings will be held Feb. 3 and 4, the update states.

The city’s community centers will be open from noon-5 p.m. Feb. 4, and users are urged to call ahead in case of changes. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden BRIT campus will be closed Feb. 3-4, and municipal golf courses are closed until 10 a.m. Feb. 7.

The Log Cabin Village is closed for scheduled maintenance and will reopen at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 8, according to the update. The Fort Worth Water Gardens will be closed until Feb. 6 or when temperatures reach above freezing. In addition, the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge will be closed Feb. 3-4. The McLeland Tennis Center was scheduled to open at 2 p.m. Feb. 4.

No residential solid waste collection—including garbage, recycling, yard and bulk—will take place Feb. 4, according to Fort Worth's most recent update. Waste collection was also canceled. The Environmental Collection Center is open Feb. 4, but all four drop-off stations are closed until 8 a.m. Feb. 5.

The city’s water call center began taking only emergency calls at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 and will continue until 7 a.m. Feb. 7, according to the update. Emergency calls include reporting main breaks, sewer backups and emergency water shutoffs.

Trophy Club

In a Feb. 3 update at 2:47 p.m., the town of Trophy Club wrote that Bobcat Trail has accumulated large amounts of ice and is closed. The town asks residents to stay off of the trail until further notice.

All town of Trophy Club administrative offices closed at 2 p.m. Feb. 2 and remain closed Feb. 4, according to an update from the town. However, the police department, fire department and emergency medical services will remain operational.

The city’s trash and recycling schedule by Republic Services has been delayed, but it is unclear for how long, another Feb. 2 town update states.

In a Feb. 2 afternoon update, Trophy Club wrote that Trophy Club Park closed to all traffic because of the weather. The closure includes the park’s disc golf course, boat ramp and all hiking trails.

Westlake

In a Feb. 4 Facebook post from the town of Westlake at about 10 a.m., the town wrote that there have been no reports of power outages or busted pipes.

The Town Hall and municipal court are closed Feb. 3 and 4, according to a Feb. 2 update from the town of Westlake. But the town expects to reopen the buildings Feb. 7.

Westlake wrote in a Feb. 2 Facebook post that all Feb. 4 trash and recycling routes will be moved to Feb. 5.

Town crews were also working to lay salt and sand mixes on bridges while the Texas Department of Transportation worked on highway overpasses, according to a Facebook update Feb. 3 at 2:35 a.m.

At 6:30 a.m. Feb. 3, crews were continuing to treat local roads, and the town asked residents to stay off the roads if possible, another Facebook update states.
