TEXRail is providing free rides through Jan. 16, celebrating its fourth anniversary providing transportation in Tarrant County.

Train rides on TEXRail and Zipzone rides that connect to TEXRail stations are free through Jan 16.

To kick off the anniversary celebration on Jan. 10, live music was held at the Fort Worth Central Station, the Grapevine Main Street Station and the North Richland Hills Iron Horse Station.

TEXRail also announced the 7:10 p.m. train from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Terminal B will return to running a full route back to the Fort Worth T&P station. Prior to the change, the train’s route ended at Mercantile Center Station.

The free rides come after TEXRail had its all-time high for monthly riders in December.

A total of 61,689 passengers rode the train, the highest number for revenue service since the rail line opened in January 2019.

“Our ridership has continued to rebound from the impact of COVID[-19], and we are so excited to see the TEXRail numbers soar as they did last month,” said Richard Andreski, Trinity Metro president and CEO, in a press release.

TEXRail ridership to and from DFW Airport was 28% higher in December 2022 than in December 2021. When comparing the last quarter of the calendar year, total ridership increased 16% for October-December 2022 over the same period in 2021, according to TEXRail.
