Fort Worth's newest Aldi grocery store has remained on schedule for a Feb. 18 opening at 5129 Golden Triangle Blvd., Fort Worth, despite the severe winter weather impacting all of Texas. Customers will be able to order groceries for delivery with Instacart starting opening day, and the store will start offering curbside pickup in March.

The chain opened its first store in Germany in 1961 and its first U.S. location in 1976, according to the Aldi website. It opened its 2,000th store in 2020 as part of what it said in a press release is a campaign to become the nation’s third-biggest grocery retailer by 2022.

“When it comes to choosing new store locations, we carefully consider several factors,” said Scott Huska, Aldi Denton Division vice president, in an email. “Above all else, we look for convenient locations for our customers that can support a high traffic volume daily, and the Golden Triangle area was a natural fit.”

The Golden Triangle location is the chain’s seventh in Fort Worth, he said.

Aldi specializes in store-exclusive food brands and fresh produce, and it also offers some other household necessities. Typical Aldi stores have only about 12,000 square feet of retail space, Huska said, and are designed to be simple and efficient. www.aldi.us
