Fort Worth City Council approves zoning for two new hotels in northeast area

Fort Worth City Council voted unanimously at its June 4 meeting to approve zoning cases for two new hotels in the northeast region of the city.

Victory at Heritage LLC, a subsidiary of Victory Real Estate Group, plans to build two four-story hotels within a 24.4-acre commercial development on Chloe Creek Drive. One will be a Marriott TownePlace Suites, and the other is an unnamed Hilton-branded property.

The proposed hotels will be located at 9813 and 9835 Chloe Creek Drive and back up to residential areas where homeowners initially opposed construction of the hotels.

The Tehama Ridge Homeowners Association had submitted petitions against each of the hotels. One petition had 143 signatures, and the other had 97. Dennis Shingleton, Fort Worth City Council member for District 7 where the hotels will be located, spoke about an updated plan at the June 4 meeting.

“We managed to rearrange the site plan so the homeowners association is in favor of the site plan as we see it here,” Shingleton said.

Patrick Filson, who spoke at the meeting on behalf of Victory at Heritage, spelled out some of the agreed changes made with the HOA. The changes include shielded parking lot lights, tinting for the windows that face the residential properties, no wall pack lights on the back portion of the building facing the residential homes, and trees added for additional screening.

Developers need to acquire building permits from the city before any construction on the hotels can begin.

Another five-story, 130-room hotel is currently under construction in northeast Fort Worth. Hyatt Place Fort Worth/Alliance Town Center will be located at 3201 Alliance Town Center and cater to business and leisure travelers. That hotel is expected to open in September.
