What you need to know
Participating restaurants and retail stores will offer 10% cash back through the Open Rewards app, according to the city website. Customers can view participating businesses and automatically earn cash back on purchases by downloading the free app.
Participants cannot earn more than $50 of cashback rewards per transaction and cannot earn more than $100 total per user, city officials said.
Ana Erwin, Keller’s assistant director of economic development, said the relaunch is expected to last through mid-February 2026 or until funds last. The city previously set aside $50,000 from hotel occupancy tax to fund the program for its first launch last summer and will be using remaining funds for the relaunch.
“Because we only ran it for a month [for the first launch] it didn’t really get a lot of traction,” Erwin said.
Erwin said the city also notified businesses about the cashback program for the relaunch since businesses were not told about the first launch.
“So far, the businesses are really excited that we’re doing this,” she said.
The background
The Open Rewards app is managed by Bludot, which focuses on local economic development in small to mid-sized communities, according to its website.
Keller’s cashback program comes after nearby cities like North Richland Hills and Southlake started similar ones with success.
