Update Feb. 19, 8:30 a.m. On Thursday, a bankruptcy court has approved HCA North Texas' purchase of Forest Park Medical Center in Frisco for $96.25 million. The sale is expected to close March 31. At that time, HCA will completely own and operate the hospital. The hospital will take insurance plans currently accepted by HCA North Texas. HCA has been growing its health care footprint over the past year. HCA has acquired the CareNow urgent care network, opened the Medical Center Alliance hospital and added new trauma programs across its hospitals. “We look forward to working collaboratively with physicians to offer a full range of exceptional adult and pediatric clinical services,” Erol Akdamar, HCA North Texas division president, said in a statement. “It’s part of our commitment to provide a comprehensive network of quality, convenient, personalized care across North Texas.” Original story Sabra Healthcare REIT announced Wednesday that Forest Park Medical Center in Frisco will be sold for $96.25 million to Columbia Medical Center of Plano Subsidiary, L.P., a subsidiary of HCA Holdings Inc. The sale is pending bankruptcy court approval and is expected to be finalized by March 31. A court hearing is set for Feb. 18 to approve the sale. The hospital is set to go up for auction Feb. 12, and the bids for the auction were due Feb. 10. HCA Holdings was the only bidder to submit a bid by Feb. 10. “We are pleased to be able to move forward and focus on building the company as we have these last five years, Forest Park notwithstanding," Sabra CEO and Chairman Rick Matros said in a press release. Sabra, a real estate investment company that owns medical facilities throughout North America, is the landlord for the Frisco and Dallas FPMC locations. Sabra purchased the FPMC Frisco in 2013. In August, Sabra reported that FPMC Frisco became unable to pay its rent in January 2015. The hospital filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September after months of experiencing financial issues. FPMC Frisco is a physician-owned hospital in Frisco Square. It is part of a hospital chain that has hospitals in Fort Worth, Southlake and Austin.
