Burden said he called Keating to congratulate him on a job well done.
“I’m proud of my campaign team,” Burden said. “We really only started campaigning nine weeks ago and we had no name recognition. I really enjoyed meeting everyone on the campaign trail.”
Burden said he wants residents to keep reaching out to him and that he wants to continue helping build a great Frisco.

Keating said he is proud of running his campaign based on integrity, honesty and his record.
"I have a history of consistent conservative leadership, and I’m looking to bringing that back to the council during a time of transition in leadership," Keating said. "Thank you to everyone who came out and stood by me for council races and for state [representative]; if I can't serve you in Austin, I want to serve you here in Frisco."

Early voting and election day totals are in from Collin and Denton County and show that John Keating has 55.09 percent of the votes, or 2,338 votes, to Brandon Burden's 44.91 percent, or 1,906 votes.
Votes are unofficial until canvassed.

John Keating leads challenger Brandon Burden with 58.24 percent, or 1,540 votes, to 41.75 percent, or 1,104 votes, after early voting totals were released in Collin and Denton counties.
The Place 1 seat is being vacated by Council Member Bob Allen as he runs for Frisco mayor.
