Updated at 12:35 p.m. Oct. 28: Story has been revised to note all reservations have been taken for the HalGLOWeen event.

Frisco officials said all slots have been reserved for the city's drive-thru trick-or-treat experience the night before Halloween at Warren Sports Complex.

With the city's annual Frisco Fire Safety Town Fall Festival canceled because of concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, officials came up with this alternative so families could enjoy some safe trick-or-treating.

Frisco’s HalGLOWeen event will be a drive-thru trick-or-treat trail from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 30 at Warren Sports Complex that will also feature a number of hot air balloons glowing.

“It’s going to be an incredible time, totally safe and just a great experience for the family and the kids,” Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney said in a video posted to the city’s Facebook page. “If you want to be a part of this, you have to reserve a spot because we know it’s going to be a popular event.”

Frisco used the Waitwhile online reservation system for the drive-thru event to control the amount of traffic through the park. The Frisco Athletic Center currently uses Waitwhile to allow members to pre-register for certain activities.

Play Frisco had originally scheduled a drive-thru balloon glow event at Warren Sports Complex in August before that event was postponed because of weather. That event was to feature around 15 hot air balloons tethered along a half-mile drive.
