One additional candidate has officially filed to run in the upcoming Frisco City Council election.

On Feb. 14, the city website listed Ruan Meintjes as a candidate for the Place 5 seat. Meintjes is running against Rob Cox, Hava Johnston, Ram Majji, Josh Meek, Laura Rummel and Dan Stricklin, who also all filed for the Place 5 race. Place 5 incumbent Tim Nelson was first elected to council in 2011 and has reached his term limit.

Sadaf Haq, Sai Krishna and incumbent Brian Livingston filed to run for the Place 6 position, and Mayor Jeff Cheney did not draw an opponent in his re-election bid.

In the Frisco ISD election, incumbent Debbie Gillespie is running unopposed for re-election to Place 5 on the FISD board of trustees.

The Place 4 race will feature Dynette A. Davis, Sean Heatley, Muni Janagarajan and Amit Kalra. That seat is currently filled by Anne McCausland, who announced Jan. 13 she will not be seeking re-election.

No other candidates for the Frisco or FISD positions up for election were listed at the end of the filing period at 5 p.m. Feb. 14.
