Six more mosquito pools have tested positive for West Nile virus in Frisco, bringing the total number of positive West Nile virus pools in the city this year to 42.

The city will spray the affected areas from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday and Monday nights. Click here for a list of areas to be sprayed.

No human cases of the virus have been confirmed.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has confirmed 108 cases of either West Nile fever or West Nile neuroinvasive disease so far this year in Texas. Collin County has had 12 confirmed cases, and Denton County has had nine cases. TDSHS recommends following four steps to avoid mosquitos:

  • Wear insect repellent containing DEET.

  • Drain standing water.

  • Wear long sleeves and pants at dusk and dawn.

  • Use air conditioning, and secure windows and screens.
