Several Frisco ISD middle schools can expect the addition of portable classrooms as a result of approvals by the Frisco Planning & Zoning Commission.

The commission approved site plans for adding two portable buildings at Nelson, Pioneer Heritage, Trent and Pearson middle schools at a June 9 meeting.

Portable buildings at these schools are in anticipation of each school’s student population exceeding the limit the schools are designed for, according to official letters from Blake Vaughn, FISD’s managing director of maintenance.

“Since there is not a feasible alternative to the portable classrooms for providing the additional classroom space at this location, administration has asked me to obtain a permit to add two 24’x64’ portable classrooms,” Vaughn said in the letter for each school.

A site plan for three portable buildings was also approved for Prosper ISD’s Hays Middle School, according to city documents.
