Public asked to submit comments for Lavon Lake Watershed Protection Plan

The North Texas Municipal Water District, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Lavon Lake Watershed Partnership have opened a public comment period for the draft Lavon Lake Watershed Protection Plan. The draft plan can be viewed on the NTMWD’s website.

The plan will address increasing bacteria levels in the East Fork of the Trinity River and Wilson Creek tributaries, which flow into Lavon Lake, according to a news release from the NTMWD.

Comments for the plan will be accepted through Aug. 4 and may be submitted online at the NTMWD’s website, emailed or mailed to Watershed Manager Galen Roberts at [email protected] or NTMWD, P.O. Box 2408, Wylie, Texas, 75098.

Lavon Lake is a source of drinking water for more than 1.6 million residents, including Frisco residents, and is a primary water source for the NTMWD.
