Frisco City Council approved amending the city's future land use plan during Tuesday's council meeting, allowing 258 acres of land to be designated for industrial use. Council approved rezoning another 181 acres for industrial use as well.

Both plots of land, at the southwest corner of Preston Road and Rockhill Parkway, are owned by the Frisco Community Development Corp. A fire station and a public training facility are planned for the land, according to Council's agenda.

According to city staff, amending the future land use plan for this plot of land will reduce Frisco's total build-out population by more than 7,000 people.
