Filing for Frisco City Council continues


Residents can still file for the Place 1 seat on City Council. The seat is an unexpired term that will be up for election again in 2018. Filing ends Dec. 19, and election day will be Feb. 18.

To be eligible to file for City Council, a person must be at least age 18, be a resident of the county and a U.S. citizen, not be convicted of a felony and not be declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law. Applications can be accessed online or picked up at the city secretary’s office at 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.

Frisco ISD board of trustees to discuss rezoning


The board will discuss the draft attendance zones for the 2017-18 school year. Residents will have the opportunity to address the board about the draft zones. The board will also discuss the district's legislative priorities for the upcoming Texas legislative session.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the FISD Administration Building, 5515 Ohio Drive.

Walk of Gratitude 2016


Strikz Entertainment is hosting the Walk of Gratitude, presented by Snowball Express, to honor families of fallen military members. The families will be given free access to Strikz games and activities. Volunteers are needed for the event to hold American flags and welcome the families. Volunteers should arrive by 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Strikz Entertainment, 8789 Lebanon Road. The event begins at 9:45 a.m.

Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission to discuss industrial park


The commission is expected to call two public hearings regarding planned industrial parks at the southwest corner of Rockhill Parkway and Preston Road. The first public hearing is a request to rezone 181 acres from planned development to industrial. The second public hearing is a request to amend the city's future land use plan to allow 258 acres to be an industrial park. The Community Development Corp. has purchased both plots of land. The plots are south of Frisco Park 25, a planned 216-acre industrial park at the northwest corner of Rockhill Parkway and Preston Road. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.
