The Frisco Chamber of Commerce and Frisco Chamber Foundation announced the return of the Rail District Receipt Race in a May 9 news release.

The details

The race is an initiative designed to boost foot traffic in the city’s Rail District during ongoing construction in the area.

The race will run from May 9 to Sept. 30.

The race will benefit local school parent teacher associations as well. Receipts can be turned in to a local PTA, and whichever PTA has the most could win up to $12,000.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three PTAs that collect the most receipts and the top three that collect the highest dollar amount in receipts.

The chamber will award $12,000 to up to six PTAs through the initiative. Each PTA could win up to $3,000 by collecting receipts from purchases made at Rail District businesses.

What they’re saying

"Main Street may be under construction, but the businesses are open and look forward to welcoming residents and visitors," said Christal Howard, president and CEO of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, in a news release. "This is about more than shopping—it's about showing up for our small businesses and empowering our schools at the same time."

What else?

PTAs can organize spirit days at Rail District businesses to earn more points in the race, according to the news release.

The first of these races saw more than $11,0000 awarded to six local PTAs in 2024. The receipts collected in the inaugural race amounted to more than $33,000 in value.
