State Rep. Justin Holland, R-Rockwall, announced Monday that he will seek re-election to Texas House District 33.

House District 33 covers part of Collin County, including Frisco, and all of Rockwall County. Holland was first sworn in to the position this year, and his term ends in 2019.

"I am running for re-election because I want to ensure Texas remains a leader in conservative initiatives, job creation, and the future of our children," Holland said in a news release. "To remain a leader, Texas needs principled conservative leaders in Austin. We were able to back up our promises to ban sanctuary cities, pass pro-life legislation that protects the unborn and promotes alternatives to abortion programs, as well as a church security protection act."

Holland introduced nearly two dozen bills and resolutions during his first legislative session this year, two of which have been signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott so far. Bills that Holland has authored include protecting information of peace officers and their families and reforming school accountability.

He served as a member of the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee and the Investments & Financial Services Committee during this past legislative session.

Holland will return to the legislature this July for a special session.
