In December 2016, Community Impact Newspaper reported on medical facilities throughout Plano that were undergoing intensive expansion projects. Plano is home to Collin County’s only Level I trauma center and a host of hospitals and medical offices. The regional demand for medical services continues to rise as the population of Collin County grows and ages.
The latest
All five of Plano’s major hospitals have undergone extensive renovation or expansion projects in the past year. Medical City Plano expanded its facility to add a burn-treatment center. In December, Children’s Medical Center Plano opened its second specialty center building, which now houses the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
What’s next
The Children’s building that opened in December is still undergoing construction. In May, the Heart Hospital Baylor Plano is set to complete a 150,000-square-foot renovation and expansion project that will add an auditorium, outpatient beds and a pharmacy expansion, among other facilities.
