At Stonebriar Centre, an unfinished red building will be home to the first KidZania location in the United States in November.

With 27 locations worldwide, the kid-sized city is a curriculum-based, interactive experience designed to enhance children’s social and emotional skills to help shape a clearer path for their futures. At KidZania, children ages 4-14 can fight fires, pilot airplanes, design robots, perform surgery and experience more than 100 occupations and over 50 businesses.

Illuminated blue sky ceilings and cobblestone walkways will accent the 85,000-square-foot facility at Stonebriar Centre that will have a capacity of 1,800 to 2,000. The location will also feature four to six birthday party rooms and a parent lounge. Construction began on the facility in 2017.

When searching for its first U.S. location, KidZania North America CEO Greg Stevens said Frisco welcomed KidZania with open arms.

“All of the other dynamics that are happening around here and all of the companies that are coming here, it just seems like a place that’s got a lot of good stuff going on,” Stevens said.

Stevens said Frisco aligns with KidZania’s primary demographics of aspirational parents that want to help their children get ahead.

“We liked the fact that there was a lot of that type of family business, family residential all around here and still very accessible,” Stevens said. “We’re very inclusive. We want to make sure that we’re very accessible to the lower income, disadvantaged families, and this is a great, easy place to get to it up and down the freeway.”

KidZania is expected to open in 2020 in Chicago and New York and in 2021 in Los Angeles.
