1. Tonight: Poolside 'Zootopia' screening
Gates will open at 8 p.m. today for a family screening of the animated film "Zootopia" at the Frisco Water Park, 5828 Nancy Jane Lane in Frisco. Water features, including a pool and lazy river, will be available until the movie starts at sunset, and concessions will be available throughout the event. Tickets are $10 per person and free for children under 2 years old. Tickets are available at www.friscofun.org, but must be picked up at the Frisco Athletic Center for children under the age of 2.
2. Collin Classic bike rally benefits Boys and Girls Clubs
Cyclists looking to ride for a cause this weekend can check out the 26th Collin Classic bike rally at 7 a.m. Saturday at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Participants can bike through routes of 17, 30, 40, 51 or 62 miles in length. Fully stocked rest stops will be available along the routes and a concert will follow the riding portion of the event. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Boys and Girls Clubs of Collin County. Event organizers expect 2,000 riders to participate, Plano city spokesman Steve Stoler wrote in an email.
3. Family Hawaiian Night takes over McKinney aquatic center
This event includes bounce houses, hula contests, chalk art and more. The event runs from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Saturday and will be held at the Juanita Maxfield Aquatic Center, 1701 N. McDonald St. in McKinney. Entry is free for children 3 years old and younger, $2 for children ages 3-9 and $3 for those age 10 and older. 4. 'Jurassic Park' viewing in Grapevine
The Palace Theatre in Grapevine will hold a screening of the 1993 film "Jurassic Park" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 300 S. Main St., Grapevine. Tickets for the screening, part of a monthly film series at the theater, are available for $6 each. Tickets are available at this link until midnight the night before the show, or on Saturday an hour before the screening at the theater's box office.
