In an effort to secure DJO's global headquarters, Lewisville City Council approved an economic development agreement April 1.

The $3 billion company is a global provider of high-quality orthopedic devices and is relocating from San Diego, California, to 2900 Lake Vista Drive, Ste. 200, Lewisville.

According to city documents, as part of DJO's decision to relocate its headquarters out of California in the summer of 2018, it hired the site location and real estate professionals of Jones Lang LaSalle to facilitate a search.

In June 2018, city staff met with representatives from JLL and DJO Chief Operations Officer Jeff Sears. During that meeting, the company representatives informed city staff that Lewisville was their target location in Texas and that the city was competing with another site in Phoenix.

City officials said DJO picked Lewisville due to the city’s strong business climate and ideal location.

As part of the agreement, DJO will employ and maintain a minimum of 130 full-time employees at 2900 Lake Vista Drive, on the second floor of the Teachers Insurance and Association of America building, for 10 years. Because of the executive-level positions that will office here, the annual payroll will be a minimum of $8 million, per the agreement.

The agreement states the city will pay a certain percentage of ad valorem property taxes owed by DJO for the next 10 years.
