Global Sports and Entertainment Business Academy announced Monday that it will hold its inaugural Dallas summer program at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco during summer 2018. The Academy at The Star is a two-week summer program that will be held from June 18-29 for local high school sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in the field of sports and entertainment business. According to a press release, students will receive first-hand instruction from Dallas Cowboys executives and other professionals across the sports and entertainment industries, including law, technology, management and marketing. Students will also take a trip to the AT&T Stadium in Arlington and participate in workshops on college admission, career and professional development, leadership and negotiation. “We are excited to partner with and be hosted by such a world-class facility,” Global Sports and Entertainment Business Academy founder and CEO Derrick Heggans said in the release. “As we have done in other cities, our program will offer a new group of future industry leaders the opportunity for hands-on learning in the sports business arena, which may influence their future career goals.” Global Sports and Entertainment Business Academy currently has additional summer programs running at Stanford University and Loyola Marymount University. “Youth and education are both top priorities in our organization and the community,” Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President of Business Operations Chad Estis said in the release. “Hosting this program will only continue to help achieve our goal in these areas.” For more information about the Academy at The Star, go to www.gsbacademy-dallas.com and for more information on Global Sports and Entertainment Business Academy visit www.gsbacademy.com.
