The Frisco Downtown Advisory Board has plans to install a new holiday light display that would include downtown Frisco.

The Main Street Christmas Light Experience is planned to stretch from approximately N. County Road to First Street. It would include 50 garland-wrapped light poles, 19 trees wrapped in colored lights, a lit gazebo and a wall washing of the historic grain silos.

The wall wash would shine different colored lights on the silos to illuminate them. The lights for the wall washing have been donated by a Frisco resident.

Aaron Fletcher, Frisco Downtown Advisory Board president, said he hopes to have everything set up for the display in time for the Christmas in the Square tree lighting ceremony Dec. 5.

"I think it's going to be a game changer," Fletcher said. "...My hope is that this is the beginning of something that will draw attention not only to a city landmark [the grain silos] but toward that particular direction, especially this year that we've got lights. If we light the silos, they'll look to the east and hopefully drive down [Main Street]."

If the light display continues next year, Fletcher said he hopes to also have an outdoor movie showing where downtown merchants would be encouraged to stay open late to allow visitors to shop.
