A 250-acre residential single-family home development on the southwest corner of Rockhill Parkway and Coit Road moved closer to reality at the May 5 Frisco City Council meeting.

The developer, First Texas Homes, and the property owners are asking for the property to be rezoned from agricultural to a planned development with plans to build more than 700 homes.

No residents spoke for or against the project, called Collinsbrook Farms by the developers, during a public hearing at the meeting.

Frank Abbott with Kimley-Horn & Associates spoke for the property owners and said they have spent more than a year working with city of Frisco officials on the plan. The development includes open space, an option for a public park and a trail that could tie in with future developments, he said.

The Planning & Zoning Commission in April approved the project by a 4-1 vote.

The rezoning does not yet have final approval. The Council voted unanimously to direct city staff to prepare an ordinance and the issue will come back on a future agenda.
