Despite a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market closing in January, the grocery store market in Frisco is not slowing down.

A new Sprouts Farmers Market was announced in March, and Whole Foods Market has been committed to Wade Park since 2014.

H-E-B

Though no plans have been announced, H-E-B owns land at the northeast corner of Lebanon Road and FM 423. H-E-B is also the owner of the Central Market brand.

“H-E-B is always looking for new opportunities to serve more customers across Texas, and this includes the [Dallas-Fort Worth] market,” H-E-B spokesperson Kim Stinebaker said in a statement. “However, there are no current plans for a market entry for H-E-B. We have been watching the DFW market for the last 15 years, and our interest remains to this day.

“As we review our long-term planning options, it often makes sense to purchase property in advance of H-E-B’s current real estate needs. Central Market continues to be our primary growth format for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.”

Sprouts Farmers Market

Sprouts Farmers Market has signed a lease for a second location in Frisco to open in early 2017 at the northwest corner of Eldorado and Teel parkways. GBT Realty Corp., a national real estate development company based in Brentwood, Tennesee, will build the second location. The first location is at 5190 Preston Road, Frisco.

Construction of Sprouts is in conjunction with a 63,900-square-foot retail center planned by CMTEX Inc. Construction began in March.

“Frisco is a ripe market for the fresh, quality and specialty goods that Sprouts is known for,” said Jeff Pape, managing director of GBT’s shopping center division, in a statement. “We are thrilled to be part of Sprouts’ expansion and expect that this affordable, healthy grocer will be quite successful at this location in Frisco.”

Sprouts has more than 200 locations throughout the country.

Whole Foods Market

Whole Foods will anchor the 175-acre Wade Park development, which is expected to open its first phase in 2017. The store will occupy 45,000 square feet.

Whole Foods is known for its organic food, including produce, meat, spices and baked goods. The grocery store also sells pet and body products.

Wade Park, a part of Frisco’s $5 Billion Mile, is a mixed-use development that includes retailers, office space, restaurants and apartments.
