toyotaA revised site plan included as a consent agenda item at the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission meeting April 20 has paved the way for 100 additional acres of development at Toyota Motor North America's headquarters at Legacy West. The addition doubles Toyota's footprint there to more than 2.1 million square feet.

Toyota broke ground at Legacy West in January, with construction expected to be complete in 2017. It is estimated that the relocation will bring about 4,000 jobs to the area; however, Toyota could not comment as to how or if the expansion will change that estimate, spokesman Javier Moreno said.

"We continue to make great progress on our relocation efforts," Moreno said in a statement released earlier this week. "While we are still in the planning stage and no final decisions have been made, our new campus will likely be larger than originally reported to accommodate not only our team members, but also some portion of our corporate partners, consultants and contingency staff.
"Our primary goal remains to design and build an environmentally sensitive corporate campus that everyone in Plano can be proud of and that our team members will be glad to call home."

Legacy West is a 240-acre, $2 million mixed-used development located at the intersection of SH 121, the Dallas North Tollway and Headquarters Drive. When complete, the development will also house corporate offices for FedEx Office and Print Services and Liberty Mutual, in addition to retail shops and housing.
