1.WaterWise Fall Brown Bag Workshop Series: Native and Adapted Plants
The city of Frisco WaterWise Program hosts a variety of workshops and events for Frisco residents. This Friday, the series continues with a workshop on native and adapted plants at 11300 Research Road. Local native plants expert Brice Creelman, nursery grower with Shades of Green, will discuss the benefits of incorporating native plants into a home's landscape. 2. Get Smart Young 5K and Fun Run
Hosted by the 3to1 Foundation, the run funds high school personal finance seminars, where students learn about goal setting, budgeting, debt management, taxes and investing. The 5K is a timed event, and the fun run is one mile long. Free parking is available at Frisco Commons, 8000 McKinney Road. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and the run begins at 8:30 a.m. Children age 12 and younger can participate for $15, and adults can participate for $30. 3. Holiday Bazaar
Grace Avenue United Methodist Church will host a holiday event Saturday featuring Christmas arts and crafts, gifts for kids, scrapbooking supplies, hand-crafted jewelry, home decor, gourmet foods, stained and glass art and more. The Bake Shoppe will also be open during the event with home-baked cookies, cakes, brownies and other treats. Door prizes and raffles will be available. The Grace Avenue Pumpkin patch will also be available. The event will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Grace Avenue UMC, 3521 Main Street.
4. St. Francis of Assisi Ladies Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar
St. Francis of Assisi Ladies Auxiliary will be having a fundraiser that will feature gifts for teachers, grandparents and children of all ages. Door prizes and raffle items will also be available. The event will take place 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Center, 8000 Eldorado Parkway.
5. Shawnee Trail Cowboy Day
At this annual day-long event Saturday, guests can see what life was like for cowboys along the Shawnee Trail. Attendees will see professional actors stage mock gunfights, working blacksmiths and musical entertainment. Activities include armadillo races, a petting zoo, pony rides, food trucks and a western photo booth. The event takes place 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. at 6455 Page St. Admission is $5 per person, and children younger than age 2 are free. For more information, click here.
6. Therapy Pals
Children in grades kindergarten through six with special needs and their families are invited to visit, play and read with a specially trained Therapy Pals dog from 3-4 p.m. Saturday for free at the Frisco Public Library, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.
7. Tech Teens
Frisco teens in grades six-12 will have an opportunity to explore coding, digital design, 3D printing, app and web development and circuits. Teens who attend help plan future Teen Tech activities. The free event takes place from 4-5 p.m. Saturday at the Frisco Public Library, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.
8. Friscovania
This inaugural event Saturday features fashion designers Nha Khanh, Susie Straubmueller, Double D Ranch, Esé Azénabor and Studio 22, as well as top models. Benefiting City House and in memory of makeup artist Kelly Whaley, the charity event features a mayor-designated safe trick-or-treat zone, face painting, a haunted carnival, live rock music and haunted fashion.
