After a tour of the news organization's new building, Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell declared March 27 as Community Impact Newspaper Day in the city of Austin.

"I've been a fan of Community Impact ever since we started getting it here in Austin," Leffingwell said. "I just learned that I get the Central Austin editionand I have found that the reporting in your articles is excellent because it is totally free of editorializing. Quite frankly, I use it as a kind of encyclopedia—as a resource—to find out what's going on at City Hall."

Community Impact Newspaper held its grand opening celebration March 27. The company completed its new facility at 16225 Impact Way, Ste. 1, Pflugerville in December.

Publisher and CEO John Garrett also presented the Mayor with a stone, representing one of five guiding values the company focuses on to achieve its success.

"We wanted to give [Mayor Leffingwell] one of our stones as a reminder of how important it is that to remember that regardless of the obstacles you face, you can win," Garrett said.

Community Impact Newspaper was founded in 2005 and has grown to include 15 editions throughout the Austin, Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth regions. The 16th edition, covering Spring and Klein, will make its debut April 10. Community Impact is Texas' fastest-growing news organization with a total monthly distribution of more than 1 million.

Community Impact was previously located at 821 Grand Avenue Parkway, Ste. 411 in Pflugerville.
