David Weekley Homes is set to move forward on the development of a 72-home, single-family subdivision after Highland Village City Council voted Sept. 10 to approve an amendment to the development plan for the property.

The approximately 23.5-acre property, located at 2601 Harlington Drive, Highland Village, is owned by Lewisville ISD but is under contract to be sold to David Weekley Homes.

Scott Kriston, Highland Village’s public works director, told the City Council at its Aug. 27 meeting a zoning change would not be necessary for the project to move forward.

Council Member Robert Fiester asked about the future of a sizable tract of land on the property that the concept plan showed would remain undeveloped. Kriston said the area encompasses an existing drainage area.

No one from the community spoke at the public hearing.
