Mercado369 is proud to present an artistic performance celebrating Afro-Mexican culture during Black History Month on February 6th at the Morton H. Meyerson. The performance will benefit After8toEducate and promote unity by honoring the art, history, and ancestry of the combined African and Mexican cultures. Experience the performance of world-renowned singer, Alejandra Robles, spoken word poetry written by local youth and dances with Mexican and Afro-Mexican roots accompanied by live music directed by Dallas jazz and world music phenom S-Ankh Rasa. Directed by three of Dallas’s premiere Latino and African-American dance choreographers featuring dancers from Cara Mía Theater, the evening’s dances include Son de Artesa, La Chilena and the rarely performed La Danza de los Diablos with masks from Guerrero.
