Lunar New Year Celebration at Galleria Dallas

Lunar New Year Celebration at Galleria Dallas

The celebration of Chinese New Year officially begins on January 25 and runs through February 4. Galleria Dallas is beginning their celebration early with an art installation of 250 enormous Chinese lanterns over the shopping center’s iconic ice skating rink to celebrate the Year of the Rat. The beautiful lantern art installation, Galleria Lantern Festival, will complete installation January 14 and will remain on display through Saturday, February 8. In celebration of the installation and of Lunar New Year, Galleria Dallas will host the HD Lion Dance Foundation in a special performance at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 2. The performance will include more than 30 performers engaging in a lion dance, dragon dance, drum performance, kung fu demonstration and a parade throughout the center court on Level 1. “Dallas is such a multicultural city,” explained Galleria Dallas General Manager Angie Freed. “Galleria Dallas is excited to share a small part of Chinese culture this year. We’re committed to celebrating our diverse, international visitor base with cultural events each year.”
