Austin’s photography + video studio FOTO//HOUSE Artist-In-Residency program

EVENT DETAILS

FOTO//HOUSE, a state-of-the-art photography + video studio and sound stage in downtown Austin (1701 Guadalupe St., Austin, Texas 78701), officially announces their FOTO//HOUSE Artist-In-Residency (FAIR) program, an initiative to help local artists in film, video and photography thrive. The first members of the FAIR program include Carla Taylor, Ron Wayne and Luke Lidell, and will run from November 2021 to January 2022, closing with a show in mid-February. For more information, see here. FOTO//HOUSE is committed to incubating local artists exploring innovative film, video, and photography projects in the Austin area. As part of this commitment, they have launched their quarterly FOTO//HOUSE Artist-in-Residency (FAIR) programs, to provide artists from diverse backgrounds with unparalleled resources and support to allow them to pursue new ideas and take provocative risks to expand their artistic practice. All residents will be selected by leading photographers, videographers, and tastemakers in the Austin scene. Upon reviewing and selecting the residents' project proposals, parameters will be developed and the resources needed will be provided by FOTO//HOUSE. Based on the project parameters, nominees will have access to FOTO//HOUSE resources, including a large network of industry professionals, equipment, studio space, models, props/vehicles, potential investors, and art collectors. Residencies will last three months and include monthly check-in meetings with the FOTO//HOUSE Founders to review project status and needs, and to provide creative problem-solving, technical advice, and administrative support. Upon completion of the residency, FOTO//HOUSE will hold a reception showing the artists’ work with invited industry professionals, and support the further development of the work. FOTO//HOUSE reserves the right to use these works in promotional material. The participants of this first FAIR program include: CT - Carla Taylor photographer/makeup artist IG: @ctshootsu Carla Taylor is a makeup artist with over 13 years of experience. Over time her love of art and fashion inspired her to venture into photography. Focused on fashion, fine art, beauty, and lifestyle portraiture, she loves to incorporate pops of color into her photography through bright makeup themes, wardrobe and color gels. Carla is a first generation American from Maryland, her family hails from Jamaica, and she arrived here in Austin four years ago. Ron Wayne - Model/Musician IG: @ronwayne_ Ron Wayne is a professional model who has been working in the industry for six years. He has modeled in campaigns for brands such as Urban Outfitters, Fila, and Uber. You can find Ron in print published in Vogue Magazine, and he has walked during the pinnacle of fashion at NYFW on the runway. Ron is also a burgeoning musician with music spanning from hip hop to R&B. He relocated to Manhattan from his home town Houston, Texas to pursue his modeling career, but recently returned to Austin where more work is happening in the professional modeling industry and to work on his music career. Luke Lidell - Director/Producer/Filmmaker IG: @radruckus @devexitymovie Luke Lidell is an Austin-based filmmaker, actor and musician. He writes, directs and acts in his films, which are based in science fiction and test the viewers’ perceptions of time and reality. He loves to write stories that explore the possibilities of the unknown world. As a science-fiction lover, he knows that there is still so much that pure logic cannot explain and likes to entertain those kinds of scenarios, and the possibilities of “what ifs.” Lidell’s experience and relationships have given him the creative outlets to express these possibilities, just as he has done in his short film “Devexity”, co-produced and starring four-time GRAMMY-nominated Black Pumas frontman, Eric Burton. Luke is from the area and grew up in small town Hutto, Texas.
