United Way of Williamson County Invites Volunteers to Participate in Day of Caring 8 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2020 Join other volunteers in Central Texas as we come together for our annual Day of Caring. As we kickoff local United Way campaigns, this event brings together corporate teams, families, individuals, and community groups to help local nonprofit agencies and parks complete a variety of projects. Whether it's painting, light construction work, sorting donations, beautifying our community, or building trails at a local park, you will be improving life for others who call Central Texas home. This event is a community-wide volunteer event promoting volunteerism across Williamson County. United, we can make the greatest impact in our community. Due to COVID-19, it will be mandatory for volunteers to bring and wear a mask. All sites will utilize social distancing guidelines to ensure volunteer safety. 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Virtual Kickoff Event and Rally 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Volunteer projects at various locations in Williamson County (pre-registration required) Project highlights include: Georgetown Berry Springs Park & Preserve Williamson County Parks & Recreation - Volunteers will help with weeding, pruning, and mulching the park's flower beds. City of Georgetown - Volunteers will plant native plants and mulch the landscape beds around downtown Georgetown. Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center - Volunteers will replant the butterfly garden and clean up the area around it by leveling some of the pavers bordering the garden. If time allows, sanding and painting work will be done on sand trays. Leander Leander Chamber of Commerce - Volunteers will help with outdoor planting, cleaning, and weeding. Opportunities for Williamson & Burnet Counties (1) - Volunteers will trim bushes in the parking lot and clean and organize the storage shed. Opportunities for Williamson & Burnet Counties (2) - Volunteers will build new steps and a ramp for a Meals on Wheels client. Samaritan Health Ministries - Volunteers will help with hanging up boards and pictures, light painting, and putting together orientation packets. Southwest Williamson County Regional Park Williamson County Parks & Recreation - Volunteers will spread mulch on the trails. Liberty Hill Spirit Reins - Volunteers will help with weeding, mowing, mucking, and other barn chores. Round Rock Central Texas Table of Grace – Volunteers will help label and organize items in the storage facility and sand and stain two picnic tables, perform yard maintenance, and some filing and organizing inside the shelter along with a deep cleaning. Jail to Jobs - Volunteers will perform outdoor maintenance and cleanup at the new Round Rock Re-Entry Center and paint picnic tables. Round Rock Area Serving Center (1) - Volunteers will sort clothing donations in the thrift store. Round Rock Area Serving Center (2) - Volunteers will sort food, stock the pantry shelves, and distribute food. Round Rock Area Serving Center (3) - Volunteers will work in the community gardens. Senior Access - Volunteers will clean three 13-passenger vans. Taylor Shepherd's Heart - Volunteers will sort and organize clothing and houseware donations, organize storeroom, and bag, weigh, and help prepare food for Saturday morning distribution. Virtual ROCK Ride on Center for Kids - Volunteers will call and remind donors to tune in online to watch ROCK's Annual Barn Dance. United Way of Williamson County - Volunteers will read a book selected from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to be posted on YouTube.
