When Katie Scott left her job teaching special education, she traded her classroom for a vintage store.

As one strolls through the historic downtown square in McKinney, the sounds of vinyl records coming from Scott’s brainchild, Miss Henny Penny’s Groovy Coop, can be heard.

Gabriel Pineda said his philosophy at The One and Only Burger is to keep it simple. With a menu that sticks to the basics, he said he is able to focus on the flavor of the home-cooked burgers and fries.

“Keeping it simple allows us to focus and refine the tastes and flavors,” Pineda said. “Keeping it simple ensures that everything is always fresh. We do not add to the menu too often. We want to stick to the homegrown, classic menu.”
