More residents in South Austin are now able to sign up for Google Fiber's high-speed internet and TV service.

The expanded service areas includes neighborhoods along Brodie Lane, Manchaca Road and I-35 south of Slaughter Lane. On Sept. 19 Google Fiber opened signups to 16,000 residents of those areas, which completes the company's initial signup efforts for Austin neighborhoods south of the Colorado River, according to a news release.

Interested residents who sign up for Google Fiber service prior to Fri., Oct. 13, will be prioritized for installation, the release said.

Google Fiber uses underground fiberoptic cables to provide super-fast internet and TV service. Construction of the network in other areas of Austin is underway, according to the news release.
