Austin-based commercial development firm Development 2000 is constructing an office building at the northwest corner of Hwy. 290 and MoPac. The company, which currently conducts business out of its downtown office located at 510 W. 15th Street, hopes to move into its new facility this fall. According to office manager Debra Poole, the four-story building, known as the Southwest Crossing, will consist of 27,199 square feet. Of that, 2,302 square feet is available for lease on the first floor as well as 7,651 square feet available on the second and third floors. Construction on the building began last November and is expected to be complete by September. Poole said the company has built almost 600,000 square feet of property for the state of Texas, including the Health and Human Services Center, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and five Department of Public Safety, or DPS, driver’s license facilities. It is currently in the process of building six additional DPS facilities, she said.
