The Travis County Commissioners Court will host a series of public input meetings to gather comments from residents regarding a potential 2017 Travis County bond referendum.

The Travis County Bond Advisory Committee, or CBAC, is a 15-member committee of citizens appointed by the Commissioners Court. The committee will propose a number of recommendations based on community feedback received over the last few months.

A press release from the Travis County Transportation and Natural Resources Department stated the Commissioners Court is inviting residents to attend these meetings to learn more about the proposed list of bond projects and provide comments for the Commissioners Court to consider. Information on the fiscal effect of the package on residents will also be presented.

The proposed projects include county road capacity and safety projects, road reconstruction, pedestrian/bicycle facility improvements, bridge replacements, flood control projects, county park improvements, and acquisition of parkland and conservation easements.

The CBAC visited the Commissioners Court twice in May to update county officials on the progress made. In a May 30 meeting, commissioners tasked the CBAC to come up with a small, medium and large package of projects for the county to review. The CBAC is expected to present its findings later this month.

The press release also stated the meetings would begin with a 15-minute open house format, followed by a brief presentation about the committee’s charge and process. Verbal comments will be taken for public record by committee members. Written comments can also be made anytime during the meeting or online. More information about the bond program is available at www.traviscountytx.gov/cbac.
