At a special meeting March 8, the Hays CISD board of trustees voted to terminate Andrew Palmore, a Blanco Vista Elementary School teacher who has been charged with two counts of indecency with a child and two counts of improper relationship between an educator and student.

The board called the special meeting March 3 following the investigation and subsequent arrest of Palmore on March 1 by the Kyle Police Department.

“This vote should send a strong message that our board appreciates the seriousness of this matter. Our board puts protecting the children of our district at the very top of our priority list,” board President Vanessa Peatrea said at the meeting.

Prior to his arrest, Palmore had been placed on leave in December 2020 upon an investigation by Child Protective Services and another law enforcement agency. However, that did not warrant any arrests, charges or disciplinary action by the district.

Though the offenses Palmer is charged with did not occur on school property or during school hours, according to one of the press releases, parents, guardians and residents who may have information are asked to contact the Kyle Police Department at 512-268-3232; those who wish to remain anonymous should submit information online at www.p3tips.com.
