Young Writers Camp at Texas State University


These camps aim to inspire creative thinking and writing. Teachers with the Central Texas Writing Project guide the students through various creative writing styles and methods of self-expression. Camps are available to children ages 6-18.

Future Aerospace-engineers & Mathematicians Academy camps


El Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos, San Marcos CISD and Texas State University partner on the summer camps, which are funded through a grant from NASA. Campers can learn problem-solving skills through algebraic and engineering ideas. Transportation is provided to the camps. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch, but lunch will also be available through SMCISD. There is an application process, so not all students who apply will be accepted to the camps.

San Marcos Dance Studio Summer Camps

Children can explore a range of dance styles, including hip-hop, ballet, tap and jazz. These themed children’s camps—such as the “Trolls” camp or “Prince and Princess” camp—include a full dance class,snack time, crafts and games daily. Each week’s camp is a different theme and ends with a performance for guests. Camps are available for children ages 3-16.

Summer Theater Camp


Campers spend two weeks singing, dancing and acting as they learn the craft of theater and prepare for a full production on the last night of the camp. The camp is geared toward children age 7 and older. Campers  are divided by age groups.

City of San Marcos Discovery Camps


Through the San Marcos Discovery Camps, the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department offers nine themed weeks of exploring, adventure and discovery for campers ages 5-10. Campers will have the chance to be outside, do experiments, build things, get messy, work as a team and develop leadership skills. Lunch is provided by SMCISD. The weekly camp fee includes field trips to various locations, two trips to the San Marcos Discovery Center and a trip to the Rio Vista Pool.

Games and activities are combined into an eight-week recreational program. Campers take off-site field trips once a week. Breakfast and lunch are provided. Camps are available for children ages 7-14 and younger children who have completed first grade.

Texas State University Autism Summer Camp


Designed to promote social, language, communication and physical activity, the camp has served children with autism living in Central Texas since 2010. Activities include music, arts, crafts, games, dance, yoga and swimming. Texas State University students serve as camp counselors and work one-on-one with children. Camps are available for children ages 5-12.

Fast Forward Kids Camp


Fast Forward Kids Camp focuses on creative learning and allows campers to participate in various hands-on activities in which they will get to design and construct projects. The program consists of three two-hour camps each day. Camps include "Fashion Designer" camp from 9-11 a.m. for ages 8-12; “Hot Wheels World of Discovery and Play-Doh Science” camp from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for ages 5-7; and “Your Creative Expressions and Look at Me, I’m an Author” camp from 2-4 p.m. for ages 6-12.

The Daytripper Camp offers campers an opportunity to leave San Marcos on a field trip to destinations in and out of San Marcos. Destinations include parks, zoos and museums. The camp is sponsored by the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department. Lunch is provided by SMCISD.

Aquatic Sciences Adventure Camp


The Aquatic Sciences Adventure Camp at Texas State University has been the premiere science summer camp in Central Texas for over 25 years, Camp Director Aaron Swink said. Campers learn about aquatic biology, chemistry, geology and ecology and participate in scuba diving, river rafting and rock wall climbing. The camp is geared toward ages 9-15.
