Alyssa Garza won a landslide victory against incumbent candidate Ed Mihalkanin in the race for San Marcos City Council Place 3. Garza has 71.43% of the vote with 13,785 ballots in her favor. Mihalkanin has 28.57% of votes, and 5,514 ballots.

Results are updated as of 10:42 p.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9 if they were sent from outside the U.S.

The first return of unofficial early voting totals for the Nov. 3 election from Hays County show Alyssa Garza with an early lead in the race for San Marcos City Council Place 3.

Garza leads incumbent Ed Mihalkanin with a 70.53% share of all early votes. Mihalkanin has 29.47%.

More than 98,000 county residents cast ballots by mail or during in-person early voting, which accounts for 64.24% of 152,840 registered voters in the county.
