The city of San Marcos has officially called a runoff election to take place Dec. 11 for the Place 4 and Place 5 City Council races.

Triggered when no candidate for either race received more than 50 percent of the vote, in the runoff election the two candidates with the most votes will face off again.

In the competition for San Marcos City Council Place 4, Shane Scott received 47.04 percent of the vote while Mark Rockeymoore received 30.77 percent. In the Place 5 election Joca Marquez had 43.48 percent of the vote, while Rick Henderson had 33.21 percent.

Early voting will begin Nov. 26 and run through Dec. 7, but days and hours vary by polling location. See the map and list below or the city's website for details.
