Hays CISD will receive some financial help from the city of Buda thanks to City Council's approval of a $50,000 allocation to the district.

The decision came during Council's Nov. 4 meeting, and the funding will be given through the city's federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act coffers.

“We have always enjoyed a strong partnership with the City of Buda," Hays CISD Superintendent Eric Wright said in a prepared statement. "That friendship and cooperation is more important than ever as we work together to navigate the uncertainty and added expenses related to the COVID[-19] pandemic.”

Wright said he is grateful for the contribution from Buda and that the money will allow the district to continue to keep its students and teachers safe.

Information from Buda stated Hays CISD will need to provide documentation of expenses no later than Nov. 30, which will ensure the city is able to comply with its grant requirements through the Texas Department of Emergency Management.
