Buda City Council meets Monday to consider approving downtown street closures.


City Council will consider approving a request to close downtown’s Peach Street between Main and Austin streets on March 17 for the grand opening of Brooklyn’s Down South, a restaurant formerly known as Cleveland’s. Council will also consider the closure of Ash Street between Main and Austin streets on April 8 for an antique sale.

The San Marcos Planning & Zoning Commission meets Tuesday.


The commission’s short agenda includes an item related to a request to sell mixed beverages at a new bar proposed for 1617 Aquarena Springs Drive. The bar will be located alongside Bad Habits Hookah Lounge. The commission meets at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos.

The Kyle Planning & Zoning Commission meets Tuesday.


On the agenda is an item related to subdividing the Down South Railhouse property at 107 E. Center Street. The commission will also consider a request to rezone a 31.85-acre property near Scott Street and Opal Lane from agriculture to retail services. According to the city’s zoning categories, the rezoning would allow for “retail sales of goods and products that do not pose a fire or health hazard to neighboring areas, e.g., clothing, prescription drugs, furniture, toys, hardware, electronics, pet supply, variety, department, video rental and antique stores, art studio or gallery, hobby shops and florist shops.”

The Buda Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its monthly luncheon on Wednesday.

AquaBrew hosts the grand opening of its beer garden and rooftop space March 18-25.
