John Thomaides leads the other San Marcos mayoral candidates in political donations so far this election season, according to the latest round of campaign finance reports that were due to election officials Tuesday.

Every opposed candidate in the Nov. 8 election must file a contributions and expenditures report 30 days before the election. This latest round of reports, the first mandated disclosure since this summer, covers all financials from July 1 to Sept. 29, according to the Texas Ethics Commission.

Here is how much donation money each candidate earned and spent for the San Marcos mayor's race during that timeframe:

John Thomaides: $12,730 monetary contributions; $8,311.57 expenditures
Contributions to Thomaides' campaign included $5,000 from the San Marcos Professional Firefighter's Association, a political action committee; as well as a $500 contribution from Ross Milloy, executive director of the Lone Star Rail District; and $200 Jim Wimberley, a partner with Texas Aviation Partners, which manages the San Marcos Airport. Thomaides received 55 total monetary contributions during the most recent filing period.

Sam Brannon: $5,444 monetary contributions; $3,259.19 expenditures
Contributions to Brannon's campaign included $250 from Ben Kvanli, owner of the Olympic Outdoor Center and one of the leading proponents of restoring the Cape's Dam on the San Marcos River. Brannon received 23 total monetary contributions during the most recent filing period.

Ruben Becerra: $1,875 monetary contributions; $2,882.16 expenditures
Contributions to Becerra's campaign included $200 from Kathy Morris; $300 from San Marcos resident Guadalupe Carbajal; and $100 from former San Marcos Mayor Frank Arredondo. In all, Becerra received 17 monetary contributions during the most recent filing period.

Cherif Gacis: $450 monetary contributions; $793.94 expenditures
Contributions to Gacis' campaign included $370 from himself and $50 from Ed Mihalkanin, current San Marcos Place 3 candidate. In all, Gacis received four monetary contributions during the most recent filing period.

Jacob Montoya: 0 monetary contributions; $141 expenditures
Montoya did not receive any monetary contributions during the most recent filing period.

The next campaign finance report deadline is Oct. 31, or eight days before the election.
