Following the death of George Floyd and heightened conversations surrounding police brutality throughout the country, Black Pflugerville will host a remembrance march June 6.

Black Pflugerville is a grassroots nonprofit organization based in Pflugerville that advocates for the inclusion and civic engagement of black people and under-represented communities.

Participants will gather for the march at 8:30 a.m. at Brookhollow Elementary School, located at 1200 N. Railroad Ave., Pflugerville. Following an opening prayer, the march is set to begin at 9 a.m. and last for one hour, finishing at the Katy Meadow behind the Three Legged Goat at 200 E. Pecan St.

From 10 a.m.-noon, the event will include discussions with city officials, the Pflugerville Police Department and statements from organization leaders. Community members will be able to ask officials questions during an open mic session.

Alongside the discussion portion of the march, a resource fair will be available with information on mental health care and voter registration, a healing circle and religious leaders available for counsel.
