A large-scale aviation search and rescue exercise will take place at Lake Pflugerville on Wednesday, according to the Texas Military Department.

The exercise is being conducted by the Texas Military Department, Texas Task Force 1, Texas Department of Public Safety, the Austin Police Department and other state, federal and military agencies. Lake Pflugerville is one of several locations being used in the exercise in the Austin area. Other locations include Camp Mabry, Decker Lane, portions of the Colorado River and Camp Swift.

The training will involve multiple aircraft responding to individuals participating in the exercise to help emergency units prepare for possible rescue situations.

During the exercise, residents will see a number of helicopters and first responders around Lake Pflugerville and other participating locations.
