A community forum will take place for Pflugerville ISD today. The PfISD board of trustees is seeking feedback as to the qualities and characteristics community members would like to see in their new superintendent. The meeting takes place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the PfISD Rock Gym, next to Timmerman Elementary School at 700 W. Pecan St., Pflugerville. Staff will be on hand to take comments. The forum is a come-and-go format to provide flexibility for community members wishing to participate. On Feb. 10, PfISD announced a separation agreement with former Superintendent Alex Torrez, who was placed on administrative leave Dec. 12 after he announced his intent to resign Dec. 7. At the time, Torrez said he would stay in his position until his contract expired in September. The board hired the firm of Walsh, Gallegos, Trevino, Russo and Kyle to help with the superintendent search. Postings for the position will stay open for applications through March 16. The trustees will review the applications and make selections for candidates to interview at the end of March. By early April, the board will begin the interview process, with a lone finalist being named later in April. There is a state-mandated 21-day waiting period after naming a lone finalist before the board of trustees can officially execute a contract. The board hopes to have a full-time superintendent in place by early summer. Comment at www.pfisd.net.
