Looking to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. this weekend? For the 29th consecutive year, the Black History Organization, Round Rock ISD and the City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department have you covered. Together, the three entities are hosting a commemorative walk and program starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. The walk will start at CD Fulkes Middle School, located at 300 West Anderson Ave., Round Rock. Led by the RRISD drumline, the march will wind its way to the Baca Center, at 301 West Bagdad Ave., Round Rock, lasting approximately 15 minutes. At 2 p.m., a program of speakers will begin inside the Baca Center, featuring John James, a former community organizer, and Tanjour Bowman, a member of Black Parents of Round Rock. Event organizers are inviting the public to attend the walk and participate in activities by donating non-perishable food items and bringing banners. More details about the event can be found here.
